Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP)
I should probably explain why this is here before listing the books I'm going to. NLP is a model of communication. It was developed by Bandler and Grinder by means of studying the therapeutic patterns of successful therapists in detail, and then determining which elements of those patterns were effective and which were not. I have been through two certification trainings in NLP at the Practitioner level (the first under the late Will MacDonald, right before he wrote a book that appears below), and have found NLP to be helpful to me in the world of recovery. I'm including these things as an offering to those who are interested. Your mileage may, of course, vary.
For most folks, Frogs into Princes will be the best place to begin looking into NLP in my opinion. For people who want to see it handled with more college words that will make you feel like you're working to understand, Structure of Magic will probably be more comfortable.
