Trying Last.fm

I learned about this place through Amarok, and I’m starting to learn my way around it. It’s supposed to be the greatest thing since the last thing that was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I’m impressed by some of the groups it knows about (Wicked Tinkers, Doug and the Slugs), but not sure if I’m going to like it all that much.

Anyhow, they let me make this little widget that shows you what I’ve recently played. I’m trying out some different music right now — seeing what they’ve got — so the results are not necessarily endorsements right this minute. But it keeps track of what I play on Amarok as well, and I’m going through and eliminating duplicates there, so look for songs from popular classic rock groups with names that begin with A and B for a while.

If anybody else is there and wants to be my friend there, that’s fine. My userid is blainn again (I can get it more often than blain, and like it better than my full name).

So here’s the widget:

  1. I’ve been playing with last.fm for a long time now. I like it. I keep my chart on my user profile page here! I’ll go friend you there now!

  2. Friended and accepted and I’ve done some listening to your radio station. I don’t know that I have one yet — I don’t have any neighbors yet — but I might be getting closer.

I’m starting to understand the rules there.

  3. It takes quite a few songs before you have neighbors. I think it took me close to a week, but then I don’t listen to music all the time. It’s fun, I’ve discovered a bunch of different stuff I like that I never would’ve heard if it hadn’t been there.
